Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. The tool is paid for by advertising. You can convert 2 files a day without any ad; after that you may be asked to watch one short ad per file. There is no sign-up and no watermark.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device. Your file is not sent to our servers or anyone else.
Which files can I convert?
PDF files (digital or scanned) and pictures of tables in PNG, JPG or WebP format, up to 100 pages and 60 MB.
Does it work with scanned documents?
Yes. Pages that are pictures are read with OCR. 45 languages are supported, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia and Urdu, and numbers written in local digits become normal numbers. Clear, straight scans give the best results.
Why is a cell red or yellow?
Red means a check failed, for example a total that does not equal the rows above it. Yellow means the value should be checked, for example a word the OCR was unsure about. Hover the cell in Excel to read why.
What does "Remove repeated rows" do?
With Yes, a row exactly the same as an earlier one is left out and listed on a "Removed rows" sheet. With No, every row is kept.
Can I convert Excel back to PDF?
Not yet. This site does one thing - PDF to Excel - and tries to do it very well.
The first conversion is slow. Why?
The first time, your browser downloads the converter (a few megabytes). It is then kept in the browser cache, and later conversions start quickly.
